When it comes to choosing a webhosting plan, there are many types of options available. It’s important to understand the difference in order to pick the one that benefits you the most.
Shared Hosting – If you are just getting started this certainly is the best option. In short, shared hosting basically means that your website is stored on server with other websites. They do not interfer or interact with one another. Think of it like you have a Public Storage unit – you have your own space but others are located inside the building with you. These plans tend to be the cheapest, but offer everything you need as a beginner website. This type of hosting is good for hosting 1-3 websites typically.
Reseller Hosting – This type of hosting is very similar to shared hosting, with just a few modifications. This type of hosting is best for multiple sites. Unlike a shared plan, each website can be given different control panels and different access. This pla is also great for webdevelopers or anyone else as this plan gives you the ability to resell or “rent” out your space to others. These plans are general just a little bit higher than shared hosting plans.
VPS Hosting – VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. This is also very similar to shared hosting as you are still on a server shared with others, however you typically have more space and have more controls over the system. This is recommended for advanced users, or users that need more resources or specific utilities installed on their server.
Best for websites that generate a lot of traffic or need additional resources than shared plans – this plan gives you full access to the server. You don’t have to share it with anyone else and you get full access to all resources.
